What began as a joke in a high school history class has evolved into a deeply personal and genre-blending body of work that defines Aiman’s sound today. The LA-based artist, songwriter, and producer found his voice in unexpected places, first, a school project during the SoundCloud rap boom, and later, in the solitude of a pandemic-era home studio. Through loss, relocation, and resilience, Aiman’s path into music has been anything but typical, and that’s exactly what makes it real.

Raised in the golden era of online DIY rap, Aiman’s introduction to music was accidental but transformative. “I jokingly asked if I could rap for my U.S. History project, and the teacher said yes,” he recalls. That moment unlocked something deeper. What started as a playful assignment ignited a passion that lingered long after the grade was given.

By 2019, his friends began to notice the depth in his lyricism and storytelling. One close friend, recognizing his potential, gifted him a mic and audio interface for Christmas, a gesture that still fuels his recording process to this day. When the pandemic hit and his family moved abroad, Aiman stayed behind, living with roommates until the house was unexpectedly sold. That same friend offered him a place to stay, with one condition: they’d be moving to LA by November. He took it as a sign and never looked back.

“Galaxy” and the Search for Home

His first track, Galaxy, was born in isolation. Written during the height of COVID, with themes of loneliness and displacement, it marked the beginning of a search not just for artistic identity, but for the meaning of home. The track hinted at something that would become a recurring thread in his discography: a desire to translate emotion into story, and story into sound.

Today, while his music is rooted in Hip-Hop and R&B, Aiman considers himself a shapeshifter. “Each project is like an era,” he says. “The style, lyrics, and production all shift based on where I’m at emotionally. I’m a storyteller above everything else.”

Sonic Influences & Creative Process

Drawing influence from the versatility of Kanye West (pre-Donda 2) and the brooding atmosphere of The Weeknd’s early catalog, Aiman crafts music that feels both experimental and intentional. His process is immersive and intuitive, often sparked by scrolling through beats on YouTube until one derails his train of thought.

A self-described night owl, he writes and produces from his home studio using Ableton on a MacBook Air. Sessions often start with a joint and end in the early hours of the morning. “You know you found the right beat when it takes your attention away from whatever you’re doing,” he says.

While most of his work is solo, Aiman does occasionally collaborate with trusted peers, notably Tavell Jectx and Yayo Ant, his partner on the upcoming collaborative tape Weed & Fashion.

SO HELP ME GOD: Grief, Grit & Growth

His most recent solo project, SO HELP ME GOD, is a gripping seven-track collection inspired by the seven deadly sins. Thematically dense and sonically aggressive, the album mirrors the challenges of adapting to LA’s creative climate while wrestling with writer’s block and spiritual disillusionment.

But it’s also a tribute.

Shortly after completing the project, the same friend who gave Aiman his first mic, now a roommate and creative partner, passed away unexpectedly. His guitar work lives on in DEVIL’S ADVOCATE and HELL OF AN OUTRO, a track originally titled HELL OF AN INTRO. The renaming was deliberate, a way to honor the friend who helped launch the journey in the first place.

What’s Next: for I am lost

Looking ahead, Aiman is hard at work on his next project, for i am lost, slated for release later this year. While few details have been shared, fans can expect another deep dive into the psyche of an artist unafraid to confront darkness, beauty, and everything in between.

He’s also finalizing the collaborative tape Weed & Fashion with Yayo Ant, an unapologetically stoner-centric vibe tape that blends laid-back flows with fashion-forward aesthetics.
