From April 15 through May 12, 2026, Fandi Mata transformed into a vibrant meeting point for art collectors, creatives, press, and cultural tastemakers during the solo exhibition of artist Brett Masterson. Set within the lively, plant-filled industrial-chic atmosphere of the Williamsburg hotspot, the exhibition blended contemporary art, elevated dining, cocktails, and live creative performance into one immersive experience.

Titled Collectors & Martinis at Fandi Mata, the exhibition unfolded through a series of curated evenings including the Opening Event on April 15, an Earth Day Celebration on April 22, additional collector and networking evenings on April 29, and a Closing Event on May 6. Each gathering welcomed a dynamic mix of collectors, gallerists, art dealers, buyers, media coverage, and art enthusiasts who filled the room with conversation, energy, and excitement surrounding Masterson’s rapidly growing body of work.

The atmosphere throughout the month-long showcase was electric. Guests moved between cocktails, global cuisine, and large-scale surrealist paintings while engaging directly with the artist during live painting sessions. The exhibition quickly became one of Williamsburg’s buzzing creative gatherings of the season, with collectors showing strong interest in acquiring works from the emerging artist. During the exhibition, five remarkable pieces were successfully sold, a strong reflection of both collector enthusiasm and the momentum surrounding Brett Masterson’s work.

Sex and the City Actress Julie Halston Acquires Brett Masterson Piece During Buzzing Collector Evening at Fandi Mata

A standout moment of the exhibition came during one of the curated collector evenings when Julie Halston, celebrated for her role in Sex and the City, acquired a coveted piece by Brett Masterson. The acquisition took place during a specially curated evening organized by Ovono Agency, further elevating the exhibition’s cultural visibility and collector appeal. Her presence added another layer of excitement to an already buzzing room filled with tastemakers, press, creatives, and buyers eager to discover compelling new contemporary voices.

Known for his abstract surrealistic style, Brett Masterson creates improvisational dream-like imagery that merges the conscious and subconscious worlds. Working with spray paint, acrylics, and marker across canvases, furniture, instruments, and walls, his practice carries an expressive spontaneity that resonated deeply with attendees throughout the exhibition. Beyond painting, Masterson also composes and performs live music, layering guitar, piano, harmonica, percussion, lyrics, and looping sounds into immersive “in the moment” performances, further emphasizing his multidimensional creative identity.

Located in the heart of Williamsburg, Fandi Mata proved to be the ideal backdrop for the exhibition. The restaurant’s signature blend of vibrant dining culture, cocktails, and contemporary ambiance elevated the experience beyond a traditional gallery setting, creating a social and cultural destination where art and hospitality naturally intersected.
