Alex Smetsky

A New York based Artist, Sculptor, Muralist, Gallery Owner and Director.

His bold yet minimalistic approach ushers him into the spotlight of the Pop Art field. He thrives on new challenges and uses each piece to reinvent himself and his messages. Well-rounded from murals to canvas to sculptures, he often mixes different mediums to create awe-spiring works of art.

He has displayed in galleries and museums domestically and has done mural work both here and internationally. His style is best recognized with unique shapes and bright colors with tons of intricate details frolicking all throughout. The dance between the background and the main topic of the artwork displays a unique play on the juxtaposition of something super detailed and busy with something super minimalistic and flat. His use of pink and other very bright colors makes his work stand out in the mix.

Aside from painting, he is trained in classic arts and thrives on going 3D with sculpting and doing installations. When not painting, he is the current art director for Popaesthetic, a New York-based group of artists that focus on commercial and personal installations.

​These days, he is one of the founding fathers and operational director of Gallery 23. A non-profit art gallery aimed to give back to the community with the goal of doing as much public art as possible as well as giving a platform for up-and-coming artists.

You can see his signature logo “Smetty”, a pink skull, all throughout. It has gained a huge following and many post the sticker to show love and support. His quote “Eat Life” is widely known for its positive message of following your dreams and making the most of your life's purpose.
